- To provide the information about the developmental disabilities in children.
- To create awareness about early detection & early intervention for prevention of disabilities.
- To understand & propagate the benefits of early intervention.
- To know the prevalence of cerebral palsy in country.
- To provide treatment, education & training to children with disabilities in special schools, integrated & inclusive educational settings.
- To provide rehabilitation support to disabled children.
- To provide counseling of family with cerebral palsy.
- To train parents/Guardian’s belonging to rural areas to take care of their children with disabilities.
- To promote better environmental condition on urban & rural areas especially for the disabled & poor children.
- To create awareness among general public about causes, nature, prevention & management of disability.
- To provide suitable vocational training for children with disabilities to make them self-dependent for their bright future.
- To organize seminar /workshop and short term courses to give special information to untrained teachers, nurses & parents of persons with disabilities.
- To provide training and support services to the disabled belonging to poor socio-economic status to bring them into mainstream of the society.
- To provide free education, training and medical services to the schedule castes. Scheduled tribes and downtrodden people for their appropriate development.
- To prepare and implement action project and tryout desirable innovations in field by taking up experimental programmes.
- To create human resources in the area of disability rehabilitation of drug addicts.
- To work towards advocacy for equal rights, equal opportunities and full participation of person with disabilities.
- To establish linkage between communities & voluntary agencies through developmental activities.
- To provide emotional support & information of intervention technique to CP child.
- To establish a publication section to empower field of disability rehabilitation with needful literatures.
- To organize identification, awareness & distribution camps for welfare of persons with disabilities.
- To undertake & participate in the developmental efforts with a focus on prevention & control of environment degeneration, ill health for disabled person, poor sanitation lack of education, poor immunization besides inculcating positive approach for fuel, energy conservation.
- To work for providing RCH and family planning services.
- To provide speech therapy & hearing intervention for Hearing impaired children.
Activities
The major areas of activities of the I.I.C.P & H.C. are in the field of Cerebral Palsy, MR & Autism & has served 450 of C.P. children, 400 children of MR, 300 children of H.I., 24 cases of autism 350 cases of multiple disabilities (CP, MR with speech problems) so far.
Child development centre with Special integrated Preschool for mentally retarded children
Child development centre (a multispecialty super specialized centre) for physically challenged children was started in the year 2006, under the umbrella of I.I.C.P. & H.C., Varanasi inaugurated by Dr. Ajay Kumar, President (2007), Indian Medical Association. Sri Ajay Rai M.L.A., Dr. B.B. Agrawal, President Indian Medical Association (UP state), Dr. O.P. Tiwari, Secretary Indian Medical Association (UP state) were present on this occasion. They appreciated the efforts of I.I.C.P. & H.C. in providing health care to needy children.
Different section of child development centre for services
Our focus is on early detection & early intervention programme. Our institute has all the departments including section of speech & language disorder. Presently, we are studying the psychological stress, well being & adaptive behavior in parents of CP & MR children. Our institution provides all the facilities for the care of C.P. children, Mental Retardation & multiple disabilities etc. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, medical care & education are the main focuses for these children clinical psychologist are available all the time to help these children. This centre of mentally retarded & C.P. children is giving preschool special educational facilities to children suffering from M.R./C.P. & Autism. Besides, we give psychological & training support to the parents of these children.
Following sections are as under
(1) Physiotherapy section
Our physiotherapy section is equipped with reputed physiotherapist. Dr. Nimisha, Dr. Raj, Dr. Mithilesh are working as consultant physiotherapist in this institute.
(2) Occupational therapy section
This section is doing well under the table leadership of Raju Ram occupational therapist.
(3) Developmental pediatrics section
This wing is functioning under the flagship of Dr. Ashok Rai with Dr. H.K. Thanwani as its consultant.
(4) Pediatric orthopedics section
This wing is engaged in all orthopedic care to patients under the guidance of Dr. K.B. Mukharjee, Dr. Ajit Saigal & Dr. Kaushal Agrawal.
(5) Special education section
This section is functioning well in co-ordination with other section under the group of special educator.
(6) Clinical psychology section
We provide psychological support to stressed parents of C.P. & M.R. children. Our clinical psychologists are well trained in counseling & behavior modification.
(7) Speech & language disorder section
We give full support to children suffering from these disorders. Our consultant Dr. K.K. Singh & Dr. Rajnikant are doing their best to upgrade this department.
(8) Our Research wing
Our research wing has started a research on “Psycho social stress, well being & adaptive behavior in “Parents of C.P. & M.R. children” in collaboration with Prof. Anand, HOD., Deptt. of Psychology, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi
Apart from this our organization is working in other social activities like :
- Vitamin A & Albendazole tablets distribution camps in different places of Varanasi for poor and disabled children in collaboration with Maa Sai Vishnu shakti trust Humanity in unity (U.S.A).
- Botox therapy camp – we organized Botox therapy camp at our center and give the treatment to these needy children.
- Seminar/Work Shop:- Our team members participated in seminar and workshops for modern approach of therapy to Physically Challenge a children. At least we can say that our organization is running a complete multidisplinary Centre for C.P. and Mentally Retarded Children and their Education programme with the help of eminent Doctors & social scientists. Organization has sufficient well qualified and technical staff for implementation of this type of programme. Organization will take the help of the expert persons for providing better care to disabled children from time to time.
- Painting competition :- Time to time Our Institution organize Painting competition to the physically challenged children and motivate their Parents to participate with their children to search the talents of their wards in this do mention.
- Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy & Handicapped children organized disease detection camp, T.V. shows, carrier fare, Swasthya mela, healthy baby shows, free health checkup facilities for poor & disabled children in association with Kilkari Hospital, Priya Nursing Home, Smile vaccination clinic, Maa Sai Vishnu Shakti Trust USA, Indian Medical Association, Humanity In Unity (USA) & other social organization.
